I’ve finally realized what it is that’s actually stopping me posting. I come up with ideas. Sure. I start writing them down. Great. But then I start wondering – maybe I should change this sentence, or maybe I should write something else in that paragraph. Sometimes I write half a blog post and then read back through it and delete it all. ‘No-one will want to read that,’ I think. And so I never post it.
The point of this blog was to have a place where no-one (or nearly no-one) knows me in real life. It was so I could rant about random weird things and be honest about my thoughts and feelings. The point of this blog was not to live a different life online than in real life, like some people do on social media. The point of this blog was not to gain likes and followers and all that other stuff that ‘normal’ teenage girls are apparently supposed to care about. The point of this blog was not to lie to my readers about everything that matters to me.
So starting from now, I’m going to write whatever the hell I want. Who cares if a couple of people stop following me? I don’t. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate my followers massively, but I don’t want to sacrifice the whole point of this blog just to keep them.
I’m going to be try to be a lot more honest about all my thoughts and opinions on this blog, and if you want to read about them, great. If you don’t, no-one’s forcing you – go read something else if you don’t like it.
One of the most important things in life is honesty, and while I may not be the best at it in real life, I’m definitely going to do my best on this blog.
