Books

Something I’ve noticed is that barely anyone seems to read books anymore. I really like reading, personally, and I can’t quite understand why everyone seems to hate it – but when I walk into my school library at lunchtime, I can only see two people reading books. In a library filled with around a hundred people, the most I’ve ever seen reading at once is four.

I’m not entirely sure what I’m so annoyed about, because I’m the one that said “everyone is allowed their own opinion” and all that – but I just think it’s really sad that in a place that’s made for books, there are only two people reading them. I really, really love reading and often get lost in a book so that I nearly miss my bus stop – and I understand that some people don’t like reading, but maybe you could just give it one more try…?

This is a pretty short post, I know, and I’m sorry if you wanted a longer one. I haven’t been back at school for long and so I’m slightly stressed out by all the things I have to do. I just wanted to let people know that reading can be really fun and that instead of getting lost in a sea of social media, maybe you could get lost in a book instead.

  1. πŸ™‚ Now, just because you saw only two people reading books in a library does not mean that students are uninterested in reading.

    The times have changed.

Instead of reading books that were made of paper, a lot of people are perusing the ebook format of popular books.

As far as I am concerned, reading will live on.

  2. I love reading (as you know :P) but I love to read on my phone!\
Most of the books in the library are available to download onto a phone or computer, which makes them easier to read, and lighter!
I took 15ish books on holiday two months ago, on my kindle. They would have taken up my entire suitcase, but instead they fit into my handbag!

This being said, there is nothing that compares to opening a real book, smelling the book smell, and READING.

  3. I think teenagers are reading lesser these days comparative to adults, the reason may vary to having active social networking life to being indulged in too many other things. But as far as adult people are concerned I find that the reader population is same. Its true people have stopped going to libraries due to kindle and online boom πŸ™‚ I am hopeful that humans will never forbade reading as an hobby πŸ™‚

    1. I think social media is playing a big part in teenagers not reading as much. It’s good to hear that adults are still reading as much, though. I notice only what teenagers do because I am one πŸ˜‰
I really hope that reading never dies! πŸ™‚

        1. At the moment my favourite author is Robert Thier. My favourite author does tend to change a lot though, as I read so many good books it becomes too hard to choose! Robert Thier’s Storm and Silence series are my favourite books currently πŸ™‚

            1. If you haven’t read anything by him you should!!! He also wrote the Robber Knight series, which I haven’t read yet but am definitely going to. I like mystery books too, but I haven’t read many. I like the Murder Most Unladylike series, which you may or may not have heard of…

                1. I was going to read All the Bright Places but it sounded too sad and heavy for me 😦 I don’t do well with keeping my emotions in check, so I tend to avoid those. However I have read Holding Up the Universe, by the same person. πŸ™‚

Maybe we should find some other way to talk because the comment section is getting very long… πŸ˜‰
